Manhattan Hokies—the Greater NYC / Long Island Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association—is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a history of supporting the Hokie community and funding scholarships for students attending Virginia Tech.

We're exploring whether Hokie Plates can create an ongoing source of support for scholarships and other charitable alumni initiatives.

No per-plate funding or DMV revenue sharing has been confirmed. The exact financial structure remains subject to state DMV rules and approvals.

Are Hokie Plates available now?

Not yet. These are proposed concepts, not plates approved or available from NY DMV or any other state. No payment is being collected.

Which states are you working on?

New York is our first and only active DMV campaign. Interest in New Jersey, Connecticut and other states is demand research; no programs there have been initiated or approved.

Are these final designs?

No. Concept designs only. Final artwork is subject to Virginia Tech trademark authorization and state DMV approval. Design preferences help guide exploration, but the most popular design is not guaranteed to be produced.

How much will a Hokie Plate cost?

Final pricing will be established by the applicable DMV if the program is approved. We will publish the exact initial and annual fees before ordering opens. There is no official Virginia Tech plate price for this proposed program yet.

Can I personalize my plate number?

New York picture plates can support personalized combinations under DMV rules. Our simulator is just for fun: it does not reserve a number or check availability. Each state determines the final format, eligibility and approval rules.

Does signing up commit me to buying one?

No. Your Yes or Maybe helps us understand demand. This is not an order, payment or DMV reservation. Any future order will be subject to DMV rules and availability.
